According to Yahoo News, the NBA New Jersey Knicks Basketball team has partnered up with Alpari, LLC (US). Alpari is a global provider of online foreign exchange trading services. On January 6, 2012 they announced that Alpari will be one of the teams new sponsors, and their prominent brand will be located baseline, on basket pads, LED signage, courtside, and throughout the Knicks website, which is located at www.njnets.com and any other social media sites that the team is affiliated with. According to the article, this marketing venture is the third- US based professional sports team affiliation that Alpari has been the sponsor of, and according to Daniel Skouronski, CEO of Alpari, he is very excited about the partnership with the Knicks, and their first season of sponsoring them and he plans to continue for the next season once they move to Brooklyn Barclay Center for the 2012- 2013 season. Alpari LLC is a very successful and established Commodity Future Trading Company that has been in business since 1996, and they’re headquartered is based in the business district of New York City. The are members of several different associations and have acquired a present as one of the “fastest growing providers of online foreign exchange (“FX”, “Forex”) trading services.” They have over 50 offices worldwide, in over 20 different countries with a trading volume that exceeds $210 billion and customer base holding over 540,000 accounts. In my opinion, this is a very strong sponsoring situation for both parties involved. According to the Nets Senior Vice President of Partnership Sales and Marketing, Chris Brahe he stated “As global interest in NETS Basketball grows, aligning with Alpari, a recognized global leader in the foreign exchange industry, will prove to be an ideal partnership.” And because Alpari has such a strong international presence, they can further develop the stateside presence by joining up with their home team, which is a major player in professional sports to develop stronger marketing connections as being a part of the US’s sporting arena.
